About Us |
Life Skills Volunteers Organization is a Tanzanian registered non-profit NGO based in Arusha-Tanzania at Kimandolu Juu Area. We are committed to recruit volunteers from all over the world to come to Volunteer in Tanzania in our different Community Development Projects. We have Volunteer Programs which offer opportunities for program participants to live in Tanzania homes while volunteering on service and development projects. Volunteers will work with communities in the Kigoma and Mwanza in the Lake Zone; Babati, karatu, Hanang, Moshi, Same, Arusha area of Northern Tanzania, the Meru, and Maasai tribes. We offer volunteers opportunities that benefit the locals while giving participants a unique cultural learning experience. Knowledge of English is sufficient for all placements, though some knowledge of Swahili helps. What You Can Do Volunteers can teach, work at orphanages, assist with small scale economic development projects, assist with conservation and environmental programs, help with HIV/AIDS education, or work with special needs children. Participants live with families who generously introduce their culture, cuisine and customs through excursions and daily interaction, providing a unique cultural experience not to be forgotten! The projects foster grass-roots collaboration, skill-building, and cross-cultural understanding. We help developing communities learn to function more sustainably, while expanding the perspectives of participants as responsible global citizens. Project areas include Environmental health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and sustainable agriculture for nutrition and hunger relief. Participants have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects in hospitals, health clinics, schools, farms, and community and government organizations, depending on their interests. Excursions and Swahili language training are included. |
